ADA Compliant Bathroom
As part of an educational assignment, I was tasked with using my previously learned knowledge and research to create a women’s bathroom complete with all of the ADA [The Americans with Disabilities Act] codes and regulations.
The Americans With Disabilities Act is important because it guarantees that people with disabilities have the same opportunities as everyone else. ADA was created with the goal of including everyone so that no one feels at a disadvantage. With the progressive society today, more and more of these codes are becoming legal regulations and required for all public spaces, compared to years in the past. The floor plan shown below provides minimum standard measurements for those with disabilities to have enough space for proper function in the room. Proper turning space for wheelchairs are seen throughout the space and entrance as well as back up space behind the sink area. Along with this, ADA requirements are shown through the renderings below through sanitary heights, proper grab bars, and under-the-sink wheelchair space.
